This course is intended for the beekeeper with at least one year’s experience keeping bees and who wants to learn more about options and techniques in the successful management of colonies, building from the practical experience gained in the previous year(s). The course is offered through a local beekeeping association.
- Member of the Washington State Beekeepers Association
- Member of a local Association
- Successful completion of the Beginning Beekeeping course and one year of keeping bees.
Upon satisfactory completion of the WASBA Apprentice requirements and submission of application, the student will receive a certificate of completion and patch acknowledging Apprentice status.
Interested students must pre-register for the course by contacting the club via email below. Enrollment for this course is limited to 40 students per session. You can enroll in the apprentice course by sending an email here, with your name, contact details, the class dates that you would like to attend(if you are enrolling more than just yourself please indicate that). please also be sure to state whether you are a current paid member to the NWDBA. You can also enroll in the class at the club’s monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month, details regarding our meetings can be found here.
Please keep in mind that even after you take the apprentice class you should make every effort you can to attend the monthly club meetings – the meetings will keep you focused on what you need to do at each point in the year, and will let you know what problems other beekeepers are dealing with in each month and thus what you should be looking out for.
