Seth Smith, a commercial beekeeper and the president of the Skagit Valley Beekeepers Association, will be coming to talk about Nosema this tuesday (February 14th). The goal of the talk is not only to learn about Nosema but to also look at samples from our own hives. To collect samples from your hives open up your hive and take the first ten bees you come across that are part of the cluster. Put them alive in a ziplock bag and bring the bag to the meeting. We will have a couple of microscopes and should be able to process quite a few samples. Hope to see you there WITH live bees.
