At 6pm join us for Beginner Hour, covering tips for beginners and reccomended activites based on seasonality and local weather patterns.Â
At 7pm In December 2019 the first Asian giant hornet was confirmed in Blaine WA. In October 2020 the first nest was eradicated near Blaine WA. Asian giant hornet poses a serious threat to honey bee populations, human health, and sustainable agriculture in Washington. This session will cover their biology, highlight pest management, and identify common imposters. Learn from this webinar how you can be a citizen scientist and prevent the spread of Asian giant hornet.
Cassie Cichorz is the Asian giant hornet outreach and education specialist at the Washington State Department of Agriculture. Her goal is to prevent this invasive pest from establishing by; delivering project information, implementing outreach activities, and working with citizen scientists.
