Role of Propolis in Colony Health w/ Maggie Shanahan

Maggie (she/her) is a beekeeper, researcher, and parent currently based in Chiapas, Mexico, where she works with her extended family to manage a variety of bee- and tree-related farming projects. She is also a (virtual) PhD candidate at the University of Minnesota, where she studies the strategies that honey bees and stingless bees use to keep their colonies healthy, and the agricultural systems that impact bee health. Maggie has focused much of her doctoral work on the benefits of propolis to colony health. She is interested in how propolis helps keep honey bees healthy, and what beekeepers can do to facilitate this beneficial behavior.
